Couple’s Wedding Day Turns Into Tragedy as Fire Claims Over 100 Lives

Haneen and Revan’s wedding was supposed to be a night to remember, but it turned into a tragic disaster that claimed more than 100 lives. Held in a banquet hall in the Iraqi town of Qaraqosh, the celebration was attended by nearly 900 guests.

Suddenly, fire broke out in the ceiling, causing flames to spread rapidly during the couple’s first dance. The ceiling was made of flammable materials that allowed the fire to engulf the hall quickly. Guests panicked, and in the frenzy to escape, many were trampled and hurt seriously.

The groom pulled his bride through an exit, but she was injured amid the chaos. Sadly, the fire resulted in the deaths of more than 100 people and left many others hurt. Families were shattered, especially Haneen’s, who lost ten close relatives.

A preliminary inquiry pointed to fireworks or possibly an electrical fault as the cause, and several people were arrested. The government promised to enforce harsher safety regulations to prevent future tragedies.

The emotional toll on the couple is profound: Haneen is mute from trauma, and both cannot stay in their hometown where they lost so much. Their story reveals how a day of happiness was replaced by overwhelming pain and loss.
