How to Use Boric Acid and Egg Yolk to Banish Cockroaches from Your Home

Cockroaches are sneaky pests that hide in quiet, damp corners like under sinks or in cupboards, often catching us off guard. These insects not only look unpleasant but also bring health risks, carrying bacteria and allergens.

Fortunately, you don’t need expensive chemicals to fight them off. You can make your own effective cockroach bait at home using just boric acid and an egg yolk.

Mix about three tablespoons of boric acid with one egg yolk until it becomes a thick paste. Shape this paste into small balls and lay them out on wax paper for an hour so they harden. Once ready, position these bait balls where roaches often appear—cool, dark, and moist places like behind the fridge, under sinks, and inside cabinets.

The egg yolk draws in the cockroaches, and the boric acid acts as a poison, causing lethal disruption to their digestive systems after they eat it.

If you have pets or kids, always place the bait where they can’t reach it, such as behind appliances or inside closed cabinets, to keep them safe.

You may need to prepare fresh bait balls a few times if roaches keep reappearing, as new eggs can hatch after the first treatment. With patience, this simple remedy can help you reclaim your home from these persistent pests without harsh chemicals or costly pest control services.
